In an eagerly anticipated address, Nigerian President, H.E Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is scheduled to speak to the nation on Sunday, 4th August, 2024, at 7:00 am, amidst ongoing nationwide “End Bad Government” protest, sparking considerable anticipation and speculation about what the president will say.

The protests, which began on 1st August, 2024, have gained momentum across various states, with citizens demanding better governance, increased transparency, and improved living conditions, attracting participants from diverse segments of society, including students, businessmen and women, and everyday citizens, all calling for substantial reforms.

Made via an official statement issued by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, the president’s address is set to be broadcast across all television, radio, and electronic media platforms to ensure maximum reach and accessibility.

The Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) will provide network services for the broadcast, in line with the government’s commitment to keeping the citizenry informed and engaged with national developments.

In addition to the initial broadcast, the address will be repeated twice on the same day, at 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm, to accommodate the diverse schedules of Nigerians and ensure that the President’s message is widely received and understood.

The ‘End Bad Government’ protests, reminiscent of the #EndSARS movement of 2020, reflect deep-seated frustrations among Nigerians. It has been largely peaceful, with demonstrators utilizing placards and banners to spread their message. However, there have been isolated incidents of violence and clashes with security forces, looting and vandalism, prompting concerns about the potential for escalation.
