In order to improve academic and infrastructural landscapes for postgraduate students, the Postgraduate Students’ Government (PGSG) at the University of Calabar, led by her President, Comrade Prince Obedience Abeng, is set to present its inaugural Colloquium and Fundraising Initiative.

The landmark event is scheduled to hold on a date to be communicated soon.

Themed, “Postgraduate Studies: An Adventure Beyond Academic,” the colloquium promises to explore the extent to which postgraduate studies extend beyond traditional academic boundaries, encompassing research, innovation, and real-world problem-solving.

Addressing newsmen ahead of the scheduled date, Comrade Abeng, highlighted the significance of the colloquium and necessity of the fundraising initiative for the lecture block.

“It is with great excitement and a profound sense of responsibility that I address you today, as we prepare for a significant milestone in the history of PGSG. Postgraduate education is not merely an extension of undergraduate studies; it is a transformative adventure that equips us with the right tools to navigate and address the complexities of our world because we are at the forefront of academic inquiry and innovation.”

“This colloquium seeks to explore these dimensions and to celebrate the breadth and depth of postgraduate studies. It will feature a series of Keynote Addresses, Panel Discussions, and Research Presentation from renowned academics and industry experts willing to share their insights on the evolving landscape of postgraduate education.”

“In addition to the academic discourse, the event will feature a fundraising segment aimed at generating financial support for the construction of the proposed Postgraduate Lecture Block. The edifice will be more than just a building; it will be a hub for intellectual activities, discovery and gymnastics.”

“Let us use this medium to express my profound gratitude to everyone who has supported us thus far (especially, the school administration) as we call on our alumni community, corporate partners, Non-Governmental Organisation (NGOs) and the broader community to support this vision,” he remarked.

The event is expected to draw significant attention and participation, deepening the importance of postgraduate education and the collective efforts to support it.
