Troops of “Operation Desert Sanity” in Maiduguri, Borno State, have arrested three soldiers for alleged ammunition theft.
According to hintusmedia, the soldiers were arrested during a covert operation at a motor park along Njimtilo Road in Maiduguri.
A military source told the publication that two of the soldiers were on their way to Markudi and one to Abuja. One of the soldiers was hiding ammunition in a bag of rice, the source said.
The source said, “On December 2, the troops conducted a diversionary operation along Nizimtiro Motor Park and Nizimtiro Road in Nizimtiro, where three soldiers were arrested. One was on his way to Makurdi with 250 rounds of 7.62 MM.
The other, on his way to Makurdi, was arrested with four magazines and 110 rounds hidden in a rice bag.
The last soldier was on his way to Abuja. He was arrested with 14 rounds of 7.62 MM ammunition. The suspects are in custody for further investigation.”
