At midnight, NLC and TUC will launch a nationwide strike.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) have decided to begin a nationwide strike today, November 13, at midnight.

The two unions agreed to go on strike to protest the November 1 assault on the NLC president and others in Owerri, Imo State, and pending labor issues in Imo State.

They resolved on November 7 to declare a nationwide strike by Tuesday, November 14, if their demands are not met.

Valuables such as cell phones, money, and ATM cards were taken from labor leaders who had gathered at the NLC State Secretariat to begin a protest over the labor issue scheduled for November 1.

The NLC national leaders, including the NLC chairman, and TUC leaders had gathered at the NLC state secretariat in Owerri to protest their grievances over unpaid salaries, allowances, pensions, gratuities, and non-compliance with minimum wage laws.
