The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, has suspended the Managing Director/CEO and three Executive Directors of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) due to financial misconduct.
The officials are accused of fraudulent misexpenditure exceeding N1.2 billion over the past two years. The President has also ordered a wider investigation into their conduct.
In their place, new appointees have been chosen to serve in an acting capacity.
