Former Chelsea Manager Di Matteo says fans aren’t giving Mikel Obi effort enough credit.

Former Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo says Mikel Obi’s efforts at the club were not duly appreciated by the fans.

Mikel spent more than a decade at Stamford Bridge, contributing significantly to the club’s success in the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.

In 2012, under Di Matteo, Chelsea defeated Bayern Munich in the final to win the club’s first Champions League title.

They also won two Premier League titles and four FA Cups.

In a chat with Mike Obi Podcast, Di Matteo acknowledged the hard work Mikel brought to the team and cited his own experience in a similar role.

I played in the same position as you, so I knew exactly what you wanted and felt in the game,” Di Matteo said on The Obi One Podcast.

‘Your role on our team was a bit on the fringes. You have to do a lot of work that fans and critics don’t understand or appreciate.

In his 14-year international career, from 2005 to 2019, he played 91 times for Nigeria, scoring six goals.
