If Dili had lost the governor’s race, I would have moved my mother from Bayelsa – Jonathan

Former President Goodluck Jonathan said he would have relocated his mother from Bayelsa State if Governor Duoye Dili had lost last weekend’s gubernatorial election.

Jonathan, who paid a congratulatory visit to Dili in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, on Friday, November 17, said that if Dili had lost, the security situation would have been much worse.

He said;

‘We do not want an unnecessary crisis in the state. We believe that the results were announced and the elections were conducted. We believe the governor won the election and we plead that people should accept it and work with him. Let us all support the Governor as he moves the state forward.”

‘Nothing should be done to set the state back. We should start with the issue of peace and security in the state and think about the development of the state, which has greatly improved in the last three-plus years in terms of cultism and kidnapping.

‘I had said before the elections that if Dili lost the elections, I would move my mother to Abuja. My cousin was kidnapped twice and one of the times, my cousin Solo was thrown into the river and killed, he didn’t know how to swim.

We went through hell in this state and saw a little light at the end of the tunnel.” So people should calm down and allow Dili to focus on governing so that he can move this state forward and we can benefit as citizens of the state.”
