It is very hard to rule Nigerians – Buhari

Former President Muhammadu Buhari says he did all he could during his eight years in charge of Nigeria.

In his first interview since handing over the leadership of the country to President Bola Tinubu in May, the former president said he would let the people decide if his time as president was “good enough”. “God gave me the opportunity to serve my country, but I did my best. But I will leave it to the people to decide whether all I had was good enough,” Buhari said. “It is very difficult for Nigerians. People know their rights. They think it should be them, not you.

“So they monitor almost every step. “You have to fight day and night to become competent enough.”

Asked in NTA interview, if he believed his government had been hijacked by cabals, Buhari said: “Probably yes,” but added: “I’m not sure if all those who broke the law can go Scot Free.
