Hintusmedia.com The Zungeru Power Plant is Nigeria’s second-largest hydropower plant and was recently connected to the national grid, leading to improved electricity supply across the country.

The project was initiated under the previous APC government led by former President Buhari, who tasked a Chinese consortium (CNEEC and Sinohydro) with the engineering, procurement, and construction.

The current President, Tinubu, ensured continuity with the project, with a concession process that will earn Nigeria $70 million annually for 30 years to manage the complex.

The power plant has a massive reservoir capacity of 10.4 billion cubic meters of water.

The Zungeru Power Plant is estimated to generate 2.64 billion kWh of electricity annually, meeting close to 10% of Nigeria’s total domestic energy needs.
