In a bid to enhance efficiency and synergy in governance, the Special Adviser Asset Management & Recovery to Governor Bassey Edet Otu of Cross River State, on April 2, 2024, embarked on an official visit to the Director General of the Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau, Mr. Charles Atu, at the Due Process office in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

The purpose of the meeting was to deliberate on potential areas of collaboration between their respective offices in the backdrop of advancing transparency, accountability, and due process in public administration.

During the deliberations, Barr Agbor elucidated on the multifaceted strategies employed by the Special Adviser’s office to identify, trace, and recover misappropriated or embezzled assets.

He also emphasized the importance of collaboration between governmental agencies in streamlining processes and maximizing outcomes, particularly in asset recovery endeavors, which often transcend organizational boundaries.

Mr. Atu, on his part, provided insights into the pivotal role played by the Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau in ensuring transparency, fairness, and value for money in government procurement processes; highlighting the Bureau’s comprehensive approach to monitoring procurement activities, mitigating corruption risks, and promoting competition among bidders and vendors to achieve optimal results for the public purse.

Throughout the discourse, they both identified several areas of mutual interest and potential collaboration, including but not limited to: Information Sharing and Intelligence Exchange, Capacity Building and Training Initiatives, Policy Harmonization and Institutional Cooperation, and Public Awareness and Stakeholders Engagement.

As the meeting drew to a close, both parties expressed optimism about the prospect of forging a robust partnership and pledged to work closely in the coming months to operationalize the identified areas of collaboration and leverage their respective strengths towards achieving shared objectives in line with the “Season of Sweetness.”
