Tinubu Should Not Review Nigeria Air Project – Alien onyema

Air Peace Chairman Allen Onyema has asked President Bola Tinubu not to revisit the Nigeria Air project

Appearing on Channels Television, Onyema said Nigeria needs to develop its infrastructure on the ground instead of launching an airline project.

He said;

Nigeria needs to develop its infrastructure on the ground, and Dr. Kabiru, the current MD of FAAN, is doing a great job. I called him and told him this is the problem we have. He said he now has space at Murtala Mohammed Airport and Air Peace will use this space. Transit will start next week.

He said, “The current administration should not go back to the idea of Nigeria Air. When you are patriotic, people make all kinds of accusations. Ibom Air will install 10 brand new Airbuses on 20 flights. United Nigeria has also placed an order. Overland received brand new aircraft. Air Peace ordered 33 new aircraft.

‘Why are we going for a national carrier that starts with three aircraft? No one believed us until the last few minutes when we said the country was being cheated.

‘By national carrier, I mean government owned. The government cannot conduct the business of a commercial airline. A national carrier is an outdated idea that was abandoned by countries decades ago.”
