Trailer drivers who load people with animals will face legal action from the FRSC.

Corps Marshal, Federal Traffic Safety Corps, Dauda Biu will conduct a special patrol operation to quickly arrest trailers and trucks carrying humans and animals and prosecute the wrong drivers.

FRSC spokesman, Bisi Kazeem, said in a statement on Sunday 12/10 that the directive followed the death of 65 people in a crash involving 18 people that occurred around 5:20 a.m. on Sunday along the Abuja-Kaduna highway. More than 27 people were injured to varying degrees in a traffic accident that occurred in the village of Audu Jhangon along the highway on Sunday.

“The crash occurred when a DAF trailer with registration number KUJ430XC was overloaded with goods, causing a human to lose control and fall into a ditch. The latest incident is the sequel to an unfortunate car crash that claimed the lives of 18 people in Niger province as well. The fatal crash involved a trailer carrying humans and animals, and the vehicles involved embarked on a night journey.Biu said

This statement further reads as follows;

“The Corps Marshal instructed the sector commander to immediately set up a joint task force to seize and prosecute trailers and trucks carrying humans and animals. The Corps Marshal also instructed that at the immediate start of this operation should establish a moving court for the immediate prosecution of traffic criminals.”The statement read.
